The Design Challenge
Propelland®, a global strategy, design, and engineering firm, found that people are strapped to their busy lives. Therefore, they created a challenge with three different cases to solve. From among three options, the more eye-cathing one for me was: Take care and be aware of your pet(s). Once I made my decision I put myself to work!
Resume
July 29, 2020. 5 days challenge. User research, Design thinking, Digital Product definition, Flow diagrams, Wireframes, UI design, Mockups, and Pitch Presentation.
Starting point
Did you know that in Mexico 82 % of the people have pets and 64% of these people have dogs? A study of the infobae arrived to this numbers, making a fact that….
The most common pet in Mexico are dogs.
Knowing this, my first delimitation for the project was to focus my process to dogs and their owners.
Design Process
Mental map & Opportunity Areas
In a mental map related to dog concepts, I clustered ideas in similar theme sections. Then, I selected the ones I assume will be my opportunity areas.
Interview Results
I interviewed 7 dog owners to understand and define which of the 3 opportunity areas would be more accurate to tackle and develop a solution for the real situation. Highlight answers were the more outstanding:
Problem statements
The interview results drive me to define the opportunity area and pains I wanted to focus on:
Veterinary
- Postponing veterinarian visits due to the lack of time for organization.
- Misinformation of hospitals where you can go for emergency. Forget the past disease and veterinarian visits.
- Forget the past disease and veterinarian visits.
- Not accessible record of vaccines and treatments.
User persona
Rebeca Ruíz

How might we questions.
I formulated some How might we (in this case “I”) questions that helped me analyze the problem and drove me to think in possible ideas and efficient solutions.
- How might I encourage owners to visit often the veterinarians for regular dog checks?
- How might I speed up the process of appointments with the veterinarian?
- How might I help the owner to remember the veterinarian appointments?
- How might I provide the user contact information of emergency hospitals?
Brainstorm
Value proposition
What I expected to integrate in my proposal were the next value statements:
- A tool that helps the owner to track their dogs behavior, treatments and disease.
- Provide immediate help contact and information for emergency cases.
- Prevents the dog’s owner to panic in bad health situation.
- Remind the user about next appointments to keep them aware.
- Reduce time for appointment reservation within the app.
User Flow & Wireframes
The product I wanted to propose started coming together. I worked on the definition of the user flows and come low fidelity wireframes. Once I groomed the necessary details, I used this low fidelity wireframes to design the final mockups.
